How to Print Royal Mail Labels on a Munbyn Printer

Royal Mail Click & Drop is the default label-printing tool for UK ecommerce sellers — it generates a 6×4 landscape PDF that any 4×6 thermal printer can print directly. On a Munbyn 4×6 printer the whole setup takes about five minutes, and once it's working you can print a full day's Royal Mail labels without touching a single setting.

This guide covers driver install, page size, PDF handling and the common issues sellers hit when they first pair Click & Drop with a Munbyn printer.

What you need

• A Munbyn 4×6 direct thermal printer (ITPP941, ITPP130B, ITPP245B or newer)
• A Royal Mail Click & Drop account with printable orders
• 4×6 / 100mm × 150mm direct thermal labels — fanfold stacks work best
• The latest Munbyn driver for your OS (download from munbyn.com)

Step 1 — install the Munbyn driver

1. Download the driver for your printer model and OS from munbyn.com/support.
2. Run the installer. On Windows accept the driver signature prompt; on macOS grant permission in Security & Privacy.
3. Connect the printer via USB and power it on.
4. In Settings → Printers, confirm the Munbyn printer appears. Set it as default if this is a dedicated label-printing machine.

Step 2 — set the paper size to 4×6

This is the step 90% of scaling issues come down to. Windows and macOS both default the driver to A6 or Letter unless you change it.

1. Open Printer Preferences → Paper / Layout.
2. Set page size to 4.00 × 6.00 inches (or 100 × 150mm). If your driver doesn't list it, create a custom size at exactly 100×150mm.
3. Set orientation to Portrait — Click & Drop's PDF is already oriented correctly.
4. Save the preference so it applies to every print job.

Step 3 — load 4×6 fanfold labels

1. Place the fanfold stack flat behind the printer, printable (matte) side up.
2. Feed the leading label through the rear fanfold slot until it appears at the front.
3. Close the printer lid.
4. Hold the feed button for around three seconds to trigger gap calibration — the printer should cycle two or three labels then stop.

Step 4 — configure Royal Mail Click & Drop

1. Sign in to Click & Drop and open Settings → Label Format.
2. Choose "6×4 label" (this is Royal Mail's name for the 4×6 / 100×150mm PDF).
3. Under "Include on labels", disable customs docs on the label sheet if you don't ship internationally — keeps everything on one 4×6 page.
4. Save.

Step 5 — print a test label

1. In Click & Drop, generate a label for a test order.
2. Open the PDF. In the print dialog, select your Munbyn printer.
3. CRITICAL: set "Scale" to 100% or "Actual size". Do NOT tick "Fit to page" or "Shrink oversized pages" — this is the single most common cause of tiny, unreadable labels.
4. Print. The label should come out edge-to-edge, sharp, with a scannable barcode.

Troubleshooting

Label prints small / centred on the page

The driver page size is still A6 or Letter, or the PDF viewer is scaling. Reset page size to 100×150mm and set print scale to 100%.

Printer feeds two labels per print

Gap calibration is off. Hold the feed button for 3 seconds with a fresh fanfold stack loaded to re-run calibration.

Barcode won't scan at the depot

Print darkness is too low or you're using a thermal transfer label by mistake. Set darkness / density to 8–12 in the driver and confirm the labels are direct thermal (a scratch with a coin should darken them).

Labels feed blank

The stack is loaded upside-down or you're using non-thermal paper. The matte, printable side must face up as it exits the rear slot.
