Zebra, Rollo & Munbyn 4×6 Fanfold Printer Setup
How to load, calibrate and configure the three most common UK 4×6 thermal printers for fanfold label stacks.
Fanfold labels load differently from roll labels — there's no spindle, and the stack sits behind the printer. Here's the short version for the three printers we get asked about most.
Zebra ZD420 / ZD220
- Open the top cover and remove any roll holder if fitted.
- Place the fanfold stack flat behind the printer with the printable (matte) side up.
- Feed the leading label through the rear fanfold slot.
- Adjust the media guides so the label is snug but not pinched.
- Run media calibration: hold the Pause + Cancel buttons until the printer cycles 2–3 labels.
Rollo X1038
- Place the fanfold stack on a flat surface directly behind the printer.
- Feed labels through the rear slot, printable side up.
- Close the lid; press the feed button once — the Rollo auto-calibrates per label.
- If it skips labels, run a manual calibration from the Rollo app.
Munbyn ITPP941 / 130B
- Open the top cover and ensure no roll spindle is engaged.
- Place the fanfold stack behind the printer, label side up.
- Feed through the rear slot, adjust the side guides.
- Hold the feed button for ~3 seconds to trigger gap calibration.
Software settings that catch people out
- Set page size to 4 × 6 inches (or 100 × 150mm) — not A6.
- Set print darkness/density to 8–12 for crisp barcodes.
- Disable any 'fit to page' scaling in your shipping software.
- On Windows, set the printer's default paper size — not just in the app dialog.
Once calibrated, Oplect 4×6 fanfold labels should feed and print without further adjustment. If you see double-feeding or skipped labels, run calibration once more with a fresh stack.
